To think that a frog could ruin my life forever....

Picture this: Becca at age eight. She is riding her bike at a swift speed and loving life, when suddenly she hears a splat. She puts the brake on and has a spazz attack when she realizes that she just ended the life of an innocent frog. Yes, the frog was dumb for crossing in her path, but he is innocent none-the-less. She "threw up in her mouth...everywhere" (a quote by an awesome guy named Cameron from Camp Marietta) and has a sudden urge to pee in the bushes. The hair on arms sticks up like porcupine quills and a tear wells up in her eye. She hates herself and goes home to weep.

Next scene: Becca at age 18. She is at Camp Marietta and she is swimming late at night. The frogs are out making babies by the pool and croaking disturbingly. Every once in a while Becca will swim by the pool drain and the frogs will croak loudly. This causes her to swim away frantically. Poor Becca is scarred for life.

Next scene: Becca is leaving the laundry room at Camp and heading back to her cabin to go to sleep. Once again, it is night and the frogs are swarming the camp like locust. Becca is an idiot, so she doesn't have a flashlight. She knows the frogs are out so she studies the ground intently as she walks back to her cabin. Out of nowhere, a gigantic frog jumps out and leaps over her foot. She screams like a little boy and kicks her feet up freakishly high in the air. The rest of the walk back she literally tip toes and squints at the ground.

Next scene: Little boy at age 10 or 11 has a gigantic frog in his hands. Feeling quite proud of his catch, he parades around the canteen (free time joint) and shows his friends. He sees Becca and says, "Check out the frog." Instead of being tough and acting like she loves frogs, she backs up and says shakily, "real cool." Smart kid realizes that Becca doesn't like frogs at all...a wild look comes over his face and he starts to chase Becca with the frog. Becca screams and runs into the nurses station where she knows he won't come. (Her heart is beating super quickly and her hands are shaking.) She then creeps around for the rest of free time and tries not to be seen by the little terror and his frog.

My childhood frog encounter has changed my life forever.

  3. This made me laugh uncontrollaby.

This week at camp, me and Tilly were cleaning out the pool bathroom, and there was a tiny little frog, so Tilly picked it up and threw it over to the boys bathroom.

Less than 5 minutes later, there was a HUGE frog in the same bathroom, so she picked it up while we were both screaming bloody murder. The boys were on the other side laughing and yelling "WHAT IS GOING ON OVER THERE?!" She was screaming at me to open the door, and I eventually did it, and she ran outside and CHUCKED it! It was the most hilarious thing watching that frog fly through the air.

Just thought I'd share my frog story of the week. :)
